Vegetation In Italy
In the lower areas of Italy, oaks and other deciduous trees thrive. In the higher regions, pines and a mixture of needle leaved, or coniferous trees such as larches and Scottish pines are common. Italian gardens are famous for the plants that can be found in them, such as the vivid colors of Mediterranean plants, to the softer shades of roses and lavender.
The Alpine Tundra is covered in several types of mosses and lichens. The summit regions are mostly meadows and pastures. Near the Po river willows, alders, and polars cluster together to form small forests, but only near the river banks. On the islands and coastlines, citrus plants, olives, and cork trees are found.
